History

St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Primary and Nursery School – Tena is a Catholic learning institution located in Nairobi, specifically in the Tena Estate area. The school is named after Saint Teresa of Calcutta, who dedicated her life to serving the poor and promoting compassion and education.

The school opened its doors in 2006 with a small beginning of 25 learners and three teachers. Its main aim was to provide quality Catholic education and nurture children spiritually, academically, and morally within the community.

In its early years, the school operated with limited resources but with strong commitment from the teachers and the local Catholic community. The institution gradually gained trust from parents because of its dedication to discipline, academic excellence, and holistic development of learners.

Over the years, the school has experienced steady growth. The number of learners has increased significantly as more families in Tena and the surrounding areas have chosen the school for their children’s education. Along with the growing student population, the number of staff members has also expanded.

Today, St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Primary and Nursery School – Tena has a large school population and a total staff of about 39 members, including both teaching and support staff. This growth reflects the school’s commitment to providing quality education and maintaining a supportive learning environment.

The school continues to uphold Christian values inspired by the life and teachings of Saint Teresa of Calcutta, focusing on compassion, service to others, discipline, and academic excellence. It remains an important educational institution serving children and families in the Tena community of Nairobi.
